Minister for Kosovo and Metohija Goran Bogdanovic conferred on Tuesday in Belgrade with the OSCE High Commissioner for National Minorities Knut Vollebaek. They discussed "issues important for normal coexistence in Kosovo", the ministry said in a release. Kosovo minister meets with OSCE high commissioner Bogdanovic said that Serbia considers as essential that the activities the OSCE high commissioner for national minorities should be in accordance with UN SC Resolution 1244 and be status-neutral. He pointed to the difficulties faced by all non-Albanian communities in Kosovo and Metohija. He emphasized that preservation of the identity of ethnically discriminated communities is in jeopardy today in Kosovo and Metohija through permanent restrictions on the freedom of movement, denial of access to public institutions, preventing the free use of language, preventing return of usurped property and preventing the return of displaced persons. Bogdanovic said that he highly appreciates the activities of Knut Vollebaek in protecting human rights and building trust between different ethnic communities in Kosovo and Metohija. Vollebaek was interested in the issues of protection of cultural monuments and cultural heritage, education, demographic situation, and recognition of diplomas issued by educational institutions of Kosovo, according to the statement. He pointed out that he will continue to work on issues of importance for the exercise of basic human rights of all communities in Kosovo and Metohija, the release says.
