Serbia and China voice mutual support Addressing a press conference after the meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Jeremic said that the dialogue between the two countries had reached a very high level, that top-level meetings had become a reality, and in that context mentioned the preparations for the visit of Chinese President Hu Jintao to Serbia, which should take place in due course. When it comes to the investigation following the report by Council of Europe special rapporteur Dick Marty on Kosovo human organ trafficking, China backs Serbia's position that it is only the UN Security Council that is entitled to entrust someone with carrying out the investigation in a credible and thorough manner, Jeremic said. According to him, the stand of Beijing has significantly improved Serbia's position regarding that issue. Today, after this meeting, the level of cooperation between Serbia and China is a lot higher than it was in the past, Jeremic said, recalling that Serbia is China's sole strategic partner in the region. China, as Jeremic put it, is a key factor of peace and stability in the world, and a driving force of global economic development. China is regaining the leading role in the world, which such a big country with the largest population in the world rightly deserves, he added. China is ready to take part in the construction of major infrastructural projects in our country, and in the months to come, we can expect the signing of agreements on some new projects, like the one we already have regarding the building of the Zemun-Borca bridge in Belgrade, Jeremic said. He also said that Belgrade and Beijing support and share the same stands regarding all political issues. Serbia strongly backs the policy of one China and it will continue to call for the respect of such a policy in every possible way and at every opportunity it gets, he said, and thanked his Chinese counterpart for the country's support to the defence of Serbia's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Yang confirmed China's commitment to dialogue as the means to the resolution of the Kosovo issue, in which the UN Security Council should continue to have an important role. This is the first visit of Chinese Foreign Minister Jang to Belgrade ever since the breakup of the state union of Serbia and Montenegro in 2006. It was previously announced that the two foreign ministers would lay wreaths at the site of the former Chinese embassy, which was attacked by NATO during the 1999 war. The embassy was hit by three missiles killing three Chinese citizens and injuring a number of others. During the day, as Jeremic announced, Jang is also due to confer with Serbian President Boris Tadic. Jeremic and Yang in Belgrade today (Beta)
