State Public Prosecutor Zagroka Dolovac has supported a decision to reach a plea bargain with folk singer Svetlana Raznatovic. The singer, known to her fans as Ceca, was indicted for stealing money from player transfers realized by a Belgrade-based football club that she owned. Prosecutor defends deal with folk singer Dolovac told daily Vecernje Novosti that the deal - that would allow Raznatovic to pay a fine and serve time under house arrest in exchange for a guilty plea - was "a just solution for both sides" Although not "a victory for the prosecution", she continued, the interest of the state had been protected, "and there is no societal danger because of this decision". Asked to comment on the Kolubara mine affair, that was revealed in a series of B92 TV Insajder program reports, Dolovac said that the Organized Crime Prosecution was undertaking pre-criminal proceedings. "May and June will be marked by this and similar cases, where the citizens of Serbia have been robbed, while the state failed to respond adequately. But, the answer is coming soon, in line with the law and the anti-corruption strategy," Dolovac told the newspaper. The state prosecutor also stated that more than 50 persons were part of that procedure and that "hearings are well underway". A file photo of Zagorka Dolovac, left (Beta)
