Vojislav Kostunica and Tomislav Nikolic conferred on Tuesday in Belgrade and agreed that their parties should cooperate and communicate on a regular basis. The leaders of the opposition Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) and Serb Progressive Party (SNS) met in order to discuss cooperation within the opposition. Opposition leaders satisfied with meeting In a joint statement issued after the meeting, the two parties said Nikolic and Kostunica stated they should discuss "all important topics and problems faced by Serbia today". "SNS and DSS will discuss all subjects, including those on which their opinions differ," said the statement. The press release also stated that both parties were interested to "openly consider all important issues related to the country's future through talks and regular communication". Nikolic also addressed reporters to say that he "thought the issues that divided the two parties had been cleared up". He noted that while DSS "expressed a certain amount of Euroskepticism", such a position was "allowed to EU members as well". "Why then wouldn't it be allowed to exist between parties that want to see better life in Serbia," concluded Nikolic. He also said that there will be another meeting by April 16, when the leaders will decide if DSS would join the SNS protest rally planned for that day. Kostunica and Nikolic met last on January 14, when they expressed opposing views on EU integration and possible changes to the Constitution. SNS argued then in favor of changing Serbia's supreme legal act in order to reduce the number of MPs, but DSS said any changes at this point would be dangerous for the country. Tomislav Nikolic also expects another meeting by the end of this week - this time with the ruling DS leader and the country's president, Boris Tadic, that should focus on possible early elections.
