Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) leader Ivica Dacic says that Democratic Party (DS) and G17 Plus’ differences represented their positioning ahead of elections. He added that the elections “will certainly be held next year”. He said that there were fewer disagreements in the government after the reshuffle. “What I see as a bad thing is that such disagreements should not jeopardize the work of the government or ruin relations within the ruling coalition. It is normal that every party is trying to build its political identity but it’s far from normal that it looks like these are political parties that are on very different positions in the government structure,” the SPS leader stressed. When asked whether the SPS will stand the next elections on its own or in coalition with the Democratic Party (DS), Dacic responded that the SPS would stand early or regular elections with its current coalitional partners - the Party of United Pensioners of Serbia (PUPS) and the United Serbia (JS). “According to our opinion, the political option with the DS would not be good for both parties given that our election bodies are completely different, and therefore it is highly unlikely for the two parties to appear at one election list,” he pointed out. The SPS held a Main Board meeting yesterday in Belgrade.
