Serbia "concerned and unhappy" about Libya war

Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić said on Tuesday that Serbia is concerned and unhappy over the current <a href="http://www.b92.net/eng/news/world-article.php?yyyy=2011&mm=03&dd=22&nav_id=73359" class="text-link" target= "_blank">situation in Libya</a>.

Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic said on Tuesday that Serbia is concerned and unhappy over the current situation in Libya. He added that it is now important to cease combat operations and prevent more civilian casualties. Serbia "concerned and unhappy" about Libya war Jeremic said at a press conference after meeting his Portuguese counterpart Luis Amado that Serbia, as a responsible member of the international community, supports the decision of the UN Security Council, but that, on the other hand, also supports territorial integrity and sovereignty of Libya. Referring to air strikes on Libya, Serbian foreign minister said that Serbia had bitter experience with air attacks in the past and that it therefore calls for an end to war and to excessive use of force that causes death and injury of civilians. Amado said that Lisbon supports all the UN Security Council decisions. He added that the decision gives legitimacy to the Western Coalition. Meanwhile, the Serbian government issued its statement concerning the situation in the north African country, that called for resepect of UN Resolution 1973 and international humanitarian law, in order to urgently stop the plight of civilians and further destruction.
