Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) deputy leader Aleksandar Vucic says that the anti-government protest on April 16 will be a “crucial day for Serbia’s future”. He repeated that the SNS had made a concession to the government by offering it to hold the elections in November. Opposition rally "crucial for Serbia’s future” “We gave (the authorities) a deadline until March 21 when we will give our final judgment and invite people to a rally that will be held on April 16,” the SNS deputy leader told B92. “The government only has three trump cards. Their first trump is the EU candidate status. I don’t think that they can get anything because all of us who want progress in Serbia will be tied to it and we will have just as many meetings as they in Europe have and we will fulfill our obligations as the opposition just like the government,” Vucic pointed out. According to him, the other two trumps are the sale of Telekom Srbija and the government’s attempt to “ruin the SNS’ ratings”. “When you are in power the most important thing to do is to think about the citizens of Serbia and things you’ll do for the people… We are doing that and that is why we made such a proposal. We want talks with the government, we want it to be a peaceful transition of power, that Serbia becomes a decent state,” he stated. Vucic invited “the entire Serbia” to the rally in order to make the government call the elections and announced that the opposition would remain in the streets until the authorities called the elections.
