Parliamentary procedure to confirm a reshuffled Serbian government could be completed by next Saturday or Monday. This is according to Speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic, who told B92 in Belgrade late on Sunday that she expected MPs to engage in a strong debate. Speaker expects "dynamic debate" on reshuffle By deciding to reshuffle its ranks, the government showed that its work thus far has not been as good as it could have been, said Djukic-Dejanovic, of the ruling Socialists (SPS). If the Serbian parliament receives a draft on changes to the Law on Government, a debate on that could start on Monday, she stated. "The opposition will surely use all instruments to attack the government and all the results of this government, and I expect a dynamic debate". "What's important is that this entire procedure, which is somewhat complex, could be over on Saturday or (next) Monday, and we would have a reshuffled government as early as next week," the speaker noted. A new MP could also take part in the debate - former Economy Minister Mladjan Dinkic who joined the Serbian parliament in that capacity after his recent resignation. Djukic-Dejanovic said there would be no obstacle to this, "but that a certain procedure preceding it could take a while". Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic (Tanjug, file)
