The three-day Kopaonik Business Forum - "Sustainable reforms for sustainable development" - has been officially opened by PM Mirko Cvetkovic. More than 450 representatives of the government and the business community, foreign ambassadors and economic experts from Serbia and the surrounding countries will gather on Kopaonik, a mountain in central Serbia. PM opens Kopaonik Business Forum 2011 The event is organized by the Serbian Association of Economists and the Serbian Association of Corporate Directors. The main topic of the event will be sustainable reforms and development. Cvetkovic opened the gathering by saying that Serbia's EU accession has no alternative, stressing the government's historical responsibility to enable the country to fulfill the conditions for EU membership candidacy. According to him EU membership is not obtained by a geographic position, but is rather something that the country has to earn. Minister of Finance Diana Dragutinovic, National Bank of Serbia Governor Dejan Soskic - and G17 Plus leader Mladjan Dinkic will also give their views of the topic of "a new vision of development", it has been announced. President of Slovenia's Bled School of Management Danica Purg, President of the Croatian Association of Economists Ljubo Jurcic and President of the Association of Accountants and Auditors of the Republic of Srpska Dragan Mikerevic will give their views on that is happening in the region. Serbia's Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Bozidar Djelic will open a panel discussion 'Serbia's EU perspectives', with the participation of Head of the EU Delegation in Serbia Vincent Degert, U.S. Ambassador Mary Warlick, German Ambassador Wolfram Maas and Swiss Ambassador Erwin Hofer. President of the Serbian Association of Corporate Directors Toplica Spasojevic will head a panel discussion dubbed "What companies expect from the government and regulators", with the following participants: President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce Milos Bugarin, President of Metalac from Gornji Milanovac Dragoljub Vukadinovic, Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) CEO Dragomir Markovic and President of the Serbian Business Club Branislav Grujic. Rounding off the first day at the Kopaonik Business Forum will be a panel on foreign investors with State Secretary with the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development Vesna Arsic, President of the Banca Intesa Executive Board Draginja Djuric and CEO of Fiat Automobili Srbija Giovanni de Filippis.
