Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic and cabinet ministers answered questions from parliament members for seven hours on Friday. In the first part of the session, MPs asked questions about Dick Marty's report on organ trafficking in Kosovo and the operation of state-owned companies, while other topics came up in the afternoon, with most questions being posed to the prime minister. Riza Halimi of the minorities parliamentary group asked the prime minister when the problems of ethnic Albanians in Presevo, Medvedja and Bujanovac will be solved, as young people are leaving these southern Serbian towns due to the bad economy, but also because their college degrees from the University of Pristina are note recognized in Serbia. The prime minister said that the problem with recognizing college degrees should be part of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, and that a solution will be found. Cvetkovic said talks will probably start in March. Responding to the many questions regarding the upcoming privatization of Telekom Serbia, Cvetkovic said that the government's position is that the company should be privatized. Cvetkovic said that even after the sale, the state will keep a minority share in the company so that it is able to participate in the decision-making process. The prime minister agreed that the subsidies for Serbian Railways and mines are huge, but said the government is trying to find a way to reduce them. Cvetkovic said that subsidies for government-owned companies will not be terminated, but that efforts are being made to reduce them as well as increase the efficiency of these companies. He reminded that the tender for the privatization of Jat Airways failed, and that the government is still looking for a strategic partner for the national airline, expressing hope it will be able to survive without subsidies.
