The Ministry of Economy on Monday qualified as untrue the statements by former state secretary for finance Slobodan Ilic. Ilic previously said that decisions on investment incentives were "barely legal", and noted that such claims constitute an attempt to politically discredit former minister of economy Mladjan Dinkic. Ministry of Economy refutes allegations Ilic's latest insinuations are aimed exclusively at attempting to discredit Dinkic one more time, just like in the case when he managed to deceive the public by saying that the investment of Gorenje appliances manufacturer was moved from Valjevo, western Serbia, to Zajecar, eastern Serbia, the ministry, formerly headed by Dinkic, stated in its release. The ministry reacted following Ilic's statement in a program broadcast by B92, when he noted that subsidies were not distributed in keeping with the law in the case of the construction of Gorenje factory in Zajecar. The Ministry of Economy says that all decisions on the allocation of subsidies aimed at attracting investors, including the one connected to Gorenje's investment in the Zajecar factory, were adopted on the basis of government decisions and the government decree on incentives for direct investments and in keeping with the Law on Budget, the release states. Late on Sunday, Ilic told B92 that subsidies were not allocated according to the law in the case of the Gorenje investment in the construction of the Zajecar factory and that the contract with Gorenje was closed without authorization by the Serbian government, during a telephone session.
