The government has a higher authority after dismissal of Economy Minister Mladjan Dinkic, said Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic. He told daily Press that he was going to treat all the ministers that way in the future. PM: Government’s authority restored The prime minister repeated that the government needed a “new energy and new people” and that the government reshuffle would be carried out by the end of the month. Cvetkovic will propose two models for the government reshuffle to Democratic Party (DS) leader Boris Tadic and Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) leader Ivica Dacic – reduction in the number of ministries or personnel changes. He is convinced that the government will finish its mandate since completion of the EU integration process is still ahead. “Political parties decide on the elections, but the essence is that the (EU) candidacy is a crown of a process which we started from scratch and which we all need to finish together. It wouldn’t be fair to ignore it. After that we will have only three-four months before regular elections, so I believe that there is no need for early elections,” the prime minister pointed out. He also believes that Serbia needs much more additional energy this year in order to achieve the planned goals. Cvetkovic said that the decision to dismiss Dinkic was absolutely his but that Tadic had supported it. “I realized that the government really did not have the authority and that Mladja was completely right. When someone goes out and says that poltroons are sitting in the government, then there is nothing to talk about anymore,” he stressed. According to him, the president is not interfering with his work but they discuss key state issues together. DS deputy leader Jelena Trivan told B92 that the Democrats were not those who would decide on the government reshuffle and that the prime minister would. The DS expects his proposal “very soon”. The Serbian MPs will tomorrow discuss proposed amendments to the Serbian Parliament Rules of Procedure and note three G17 Plus ministers’ resignations. Mirko Cvetkovic (FoNet) “Government not responsible for crisis” Commenting on the government’s work, Cvetkovic pointed out that one needed to distinguished between the responsibility and guilt because the government was not responsible for the current situation and that it was not its fault either. When asked whose fault it was, he said that Serbia was a part of the region and a part of the world economy and that everything that was happening in the world was reflecting on Serbia as well. The prime minister thinks that it is not important who will run the Economy Ministry, but that it is important how the new minister will do it, because the “essence is in the policy, not in a person”.
