Ivica Dacic said there was no reason to call early parliamentary elections as long as as parliamentary majority was there. After opening an exhibition of the Serbian flags in Nis, southern Serbia, the first deputy PM and interior minister told reporters that the sacking of Economy Minister Mladjan Dinkic had not been aimed at forcing early parliamentary elections. Dacic: No reason for elections “The prime minister did not have the intention to cause early parliamentary elections and this is why the ruling coalition supported his decision,” Dacic, who is the leader of the Socialist Party of Serbia, explained. Dacic said the prime minister's decision had been inevitable because Cvetkovic had to dispel suspicion that the government lacked unity. The issues regarding reshuffle or reduction of the government will be discussed by the parties of the ruling coalition in the coming days, he added. Dacic noted that the decision Dinkic had made in his capacity as the leader of G17 Plus, that his party would not leave the ruling coalition, was reasonable and that it should “bring a little peace into inter-party relations.” He added that the recent exchange of harsh words between the parties that make up the top of the ruling coalition had been giving a bad and misleading picture of the government and had at the same threatened the existence of a parliamentary majority.
