Serbian Army chief Miloje Miletic says that Serbia is not under pressure to join NATO, the western military alliance. The general told Belgrade-based daily Vecernje Novosti in an interview that "great western powers accept Serbia's position to be militarily neutral". "Serbia not under pressure to join NATO" "Serbia can remain militarily neutral, but it cannot remain outside all security movements," said Miletic, adding that "nobody can solve all the problems alone, but that does not mean Serbia must be a member of a military alliance". Asked about the military's "cooperation with EULEX", and the possibility that it may take part in the human organ trafficking investigation in Kosovo, Miletic said this was not within the army's jurisdiction. "The Serbian Army has no institutional cooperation with EULEX. KFOR is still the top security authority in Kosovo and Metohija as far as we're concerned, as defined by (UNSC) Resolution 1244," he told the daily. Miletic also noted that Serbia's military had "exceptionally good cooperation" with the NATO-led forces in the province, but that Belgrade believes "conditions have not been met" for a reduction in the number of international troops there.
