Leader of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) Tomislav Nikolic stated on Friday that he personally guaranteed that the SNS Saturday rally would be orderly. He added that it would not be a pre-revolutionary protest. “Opposition rally not pre-revolutionary one” He told RTS that the rumors about the disruption of security were aimed at talking citizens out of attending the protest, and pointed out that the rally would serve to voice the opinion of Serbian citizens and not those of his party. “The protest will send a message to the government that our patience is running out and that we expect them to behave in a state-building manner and be honest to the people, to look around them and see how citizens are living. These are the messages of the people of Serbia, not of a political party,” Nikolic said. He added that Serbia desperately needed changes, that a year was too much time to wait for parliamentary elections to be organized as the country was heaving under the burden, and reiterated that the SNS would leave the government a two-month deadline to meet the party's requests, including the one that refers to calling early elections. “The protest is not a pre-revolutionary one. It will rather be a gathering aimed at checking out our strength, and then we will call on the government to conduct talks with the opposition regarding the topics we impose,” the SNS leader concluded.
