Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) leader Cedomir Jovanovic has asked for European liberals’ support during debate on Dick Marty’s report next week. The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) will discuss Marty's report next Tuesday. LDP asks for European liberals’ support “The LDP is a party that is a distinct proponent of punishment of all crimes, full cooperation with the Hague Tribunal and establishment of national courts for efficient punishing of crimes,” the LDP leader wrote in the letter sent to Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) President Anne Brasseur. “I appeal to you and all liberal MEPs to help determine all facts and encourage region’s European perspective. An important step in that direction would be adoption of an indisputable conclusion of the Council of Europe in this case,” he pointed out. Jovanovic has called upon the European liberals to do everything so the debate and the decision of the PACE would contribute to peace in Kosovo and the region, speed up establishment of the rule of law and help Serbs and Albanians reconcile. “The Council of Europe and its Parliamentary Assembly need to make a decision which will help fully resolve the situation and give clear and unambiguous answers to serious crime accusations,” he stressed. According to him, “each ambiguity would make room for political abuse and jeopardize the chance to reach a permanent agreement between the Albanian and Serbian communities in Kosovo regarding the future, rule of law, protection of human rights and European perspective of all people and communities living there,” the LDP leader wrote. He pointed out that reconciliation and agreement on common future needed to be based on civilization and political values that are characteristic for liberal Europe and that was “what all communities in the region need, especially the Serbian and Albanian ones.” Cedomir Jovanovic
