“Answers to questionnaire X-ray of Serbia”

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Božidar Đelić stated on Friday that Serbia's answers to the EC questionnaire represented “an X-ray of the country”.

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic stated on Friday that Serbia's answers to the EC questionnaire represented “an X-ray of the country”. He added that the Serbian government would determine the final answers next week, after which they would be forwarded to the European Commission (EC) on January 31. “Answers to questionnaire X-ray of Serbia” Presenting the answers to the members of the parliament's EU Integration Committee, Djelic said that Serbia had managed to complete the job in only six weeks, whereas other countries needed several months to do that. “We engaged all relevant state institutions, citizens, and experts in the process,” he added. The EC questionnaire, which consists of 2,483 questions divided in 33 chapters and six annexes, was given to the representatives of the Serbian government by EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule in Belgrade on November 24. According to the deputy PM, the first half of the year will be very busy as regards the EU integration. Serbian government’s EU Integration Office Director Milica Delevic said that Serbia's answers represented a comprehensive overview of the situation in the country. She underlined that Serbia would host expert missions which would forward additional questions, for which the competent authorities were preparing in advance. Delevic assessed that the questions would refer to the judiciary reform and the recommendations Serbia had been given in that domain. “We will adopt the recommendations from the Action Plan, so as to change things and try to acquire the candidate status in 2011,” she underlined. Presenting the answers to the members of the parliament's EU Integration Committee, Đelić said that Serbia had managed to complete the job in only six weeks, whereas other countries needed several months to do that.

The EC questionnaire, which consists of 2,483 questions divided in 33 chapters and six annexes, was given to the representatives of the Serbian government by EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule in Belgrade on November 24.
