Deputy PM Bozidar Djelic says that blank resignation letters should be repealed by June. He told daily Blic that transparency of financing of political parties would also be improved. Deputy PM on blank resignation letters According to him, these are the two main issues that the EU will insist on in the future period. The deputy PM explained that there was consent within the ruling coalition to revoke blank resignation letters, adding that he believed that a wider consensus on the issue would be reached in the Serbian parliament. “There is also a general agreement regarding the Law on the Financing of Political Parties which will provide additional transparency,” he was quoted as saying. Djelic also pointed out that the European Commission (EC) should send technical missions in the first or the second quarter of 2011 which would check the veracity of the answers to the EC questionnaire. “These technical missions will maybe point to some changes which could be possible. And while this is going on with the questionnaire, Serbia will implement the action plan which the government adopted in late December, which envisages adoption of a large number of very serious laws, such as the Law on Restitution, regularized repealing of blank resignation letters, further strengthening of independent regulatory agencies and many other reform moves,” he stressed.
