“Government should have 15 ministries”

Economy Minister and G17 Plus leader Mladjan Dinkic has stated that the Serbian government could reduce the number of its ministries to 15. “We have a clear stand on this - either we will reach an agreement on a radical government reshuffle with 15 departments by the end of January, or we will have nothing done whatsoever,” the minister told Belgrade-based daily Blic. “Government should have 15 ministries” According to him, if there is no willingness to do something like that and if it is only cosmetic changes that are planned, it is better that the ruling coalition does not begin the job at all. Commenting on a remark by the daily, quoting the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) as saying that it would now by pointless to change the composition of the government, Dinkic said that he was not aware of that statement, but added that he believed “new government compositions should not resemble the current one in size.” The G17 Plus leader said that the government could be radically reduced “if each partner in the coalition reduced the number of its ministers in proportion to their participation in the government and the parliament.” Mladjan Dinkic (Beta)
