"Report no obstacle to Kosovo dialogue"

The Marty report should not be an obstacle to the start of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, believes Jelko Kacin. The Slovenian politician, who is European Parliament's rapporteur for Serbia, told B92 in Belgrade on Tuesday that the dialogue will not take place on the presidential or ministerial level, and that therefore accusations against Kosovo Albanian PM Hashim Thaci "are no obstacle". "Report no obstacle to Kosovo dialogue" The report named Thaci as the leader of a KLA gang believed to have kidnapped Serbs and other civilians in order to sell their body parts in the black organ market. "The dialogue is aimed at improving life in Kosovo and in southern Serbia," said Kacin, adding that it would take place in order to find solutions useful for both sides. As for CoE rapporteur Dick Marty's report, Kacin said that he was "not surprised", because he had several conversations regarding kidnappings and organ trafficking in Kosovo with representatives of the prosecution. He said that the report was a great challenge for parliament and the judiciary but that there is no judicial system that can conduct an investigation promptly after the report. Kacin added that it was surprising that the report of a former prosecutor should be made without concrete proof and that he could not believe a report was true without any reservations because of the person who signed it. Kacin said the Marty report was a challenge that will be faced by the Council of Europe (CoE) Parliamentary Assembly when it votes to adopt it in January, and suggested that deciding how to vote will also be a challenge for Serbia. "Serbia too has a delegation at the Parliamentary Assembly and this is a challenge for its delegation too.
