LDP leader sues former U.S. ambassador
Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) leader Čedomir Jovanović is suing former U.S. Ambassador to Serbia William Montgomery for defamation.

Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) leader Cedomir Jovanovic is suing former U.S. Ambassador to Serbia William Montgomery for defamation. He also intends to launch a proceeding in the U.S. on the same grounds, the LDP has announced. LDP leader sues former U.S. ambassador Jovanovic has filed criminal charges against Montgomery for publically telling lies and making verdicts of the Special Court and the Supreme Court of Serbia in the case of Zoran Djindjic’s murder relative and the fact that the LDP leader answered all disputable questions before the court. The LDP has repeated that the trial chamber especially pointed out that Jovanovic’s testimonies and answers to the prosecutor, judge and defense council’s questions had helped the court reach the decision and that they had been truthful and complete. Jovanovic’s party claims that the lawsuit proves that the former U.S. ambassador to Serbia was continuously working on destroying Djindjic’s government and that he was a part of a wider political project that halted every attempt to determine political background of Djindjic’s murder. The LDP leader also questions Montgomery’s business and political ties and other activities which prove that the latest media campaign is aimed at diverting public’s attention and false accusations. After Montgomery said in his interview to Serbia's state broadcaster RTS in mid-November that Jovanovic should say everything he knew about Djindjic’s murder, the LDP accused him of intentionally obstructing attempts to learn about political background of the PM’s murder.
