Nobody believes Serbia anymore that Mladic is not there, and if he is not in The Hague it’s because of Serbia, says EP Rapporteur for Serbia Jelko Kacin. Deutsche Welle (DW) reports that Kacin is familiar with “views and messages” of the Hague prosecution which will be published in next week’s report. EP rapporteur: Serbia responsible for Mladic “What Brammertz is saying is that Serbia represents the biggest challenge for itself. When it decides to show itself in its true colors it will achieve that. Nobody alive believes Serbia anymore that Mladic is gone,” he pointed out. The EP rapporteur recently presented a resolution on Serbia’s progress in the process of European integrations to the EP Foreign Policy Committee. The resolution, which DW has assessed as “the most positive so far”, was supported by the EP Foreign Policy Committee and MEPs should vote on it in January. The EP Foreign Policy Committee adopted the document almost unanimously, with only two MEPs who abstained from voting. “Nobody was against encouraging pro-European powers in Serbia with a convincing message to finally make them realize that nobody except them can do something for it and that everything remains in Serbia’s hands,” he told DW. The resolution pointed out necessity to arrest Hague fugitives Ratko Mladic and Goran Hadzic. At the same time the EP Foreign Policy Committee also supported ratification of Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) with Serbia which was so far signed by 11 out of 27 EU member states. Kacin has called upon the remaining 16 countries to ratify the SAA with Serbia as soon as possible and stated that support to the resolution on Serbia and ratification of the SAA should mark the beginning of speedy reforms in Serbia.
