EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fuele will hand the Serbian authorities an EC questionnaire on European reforms next week, Beta reported. It will serve as the basis for a later EC evaluation of Serbia's readiness to be granted candidacy status. The event was organized by the right-wing People's Party caucus. A number of leading politicians and government members from the Western Balkans also participated in the event. The European commissioner stressed that, in addition to implementing reforms in the country "an accommodating approach to Kosovo's participation in regional trade and cooperation is also important for Serbia." "Cooperation with the EU rule of law mission EULEX must also be bolstered, where the north of Kosovo is concerned," he said. The EU commissioner also stated that the organization's enlargement to include the Western Balkans is in the interest of the EU since it strengthens peace and stability in all of Europe.
