“Government understands K. Serbs’ decision”

The government did not support Serbs’ decision to take part in Kosovo elections, but it is aware of situation and understands our decision, Rada Trajkovic said. Director of the European Movement of Serbs NGO Rada Trajkovic stated on Saturday that she saw Belgrade's stand on the participation of Kosovo Serbs in the forthcoming elections as a “statement of mutual understanding.” “Government understands K. Serbs’ decision” She told Novi Sad-based daily Dnevnik, that the stand of the Serbian government, which assessed that it was not the right moment for the Kosovo Serbs to vote in the December 12 elections, was a flexible one and added that such position did not spread confusion among the Serb population in the province. The NGO director expressed belief that the stand of the government was not exclusive regarding the matter this time and that the government was well-aware of the situation. Trajkovic is participating in the forming of the United Serb List, one of the eight Serbian lists submitted for the Kosovo elections. She added that Belgrade did not openly back Serbs' participating in the Kosovo elections, but that nobody would criticize their decision if they decided to vote. “There is no boycott campaign, nor is there anyone to deter Serbs in Kosovo from taking part in the elections,” Trajkovic pointed out.
