The Belgrade board of the Judiciary Union have decided to freeze their ongoing strike in Belgrade. The union said this came in order to prevent negative consequences on all those who depend on the work of courts. The Ministry of Justice said that the offer regarding salary hikes was given in an anonymous questionnaire. However, the Belgrade branch of the union said today that during the strike, the ministry ordered court presidents and public prosecutors to conduct illegal polling among employees, asking about their satisfaction with working conditions, volume of work and salaries. The union also says that the poll was public and conducted under pressure, and that their decision to suspend the strike did not come as a result of an agreement reached with the ministry. This union stated that they would conduct a poll of their own, asking those employed in the judiciary whether the strike had fulfilled their expectations, and whether they favored continuing it.
