German Ambassador to Serbia Wolfram Maas says his country favors a start of consideration of Serbia's candidate status bid. He told B92 that the example of the two Germanys until 1990 "can serve as a model for Serbia and Kosovo" only in that they should cooperate on practical issues without recognizing one another. He also said it was good that the new Dutch parliament on Wednesday hear more about Serbia from EU and Hague Tribunal officials, and said the issue of the arrest of war crimes fugitives was important for Holland and "all of us". A Dutch parliamentary committee was briefed by EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fuele and Chief Hague Prosecutor Serge Brammertz, and Maas said he was optimistic that some explanations they gave could further contribute to the opening of the process that would lead to the situation where Serbia would move forward after the next meeting of EU foreign ministers. "We will be a good partner in the achieving of both goals," Maas said at a reception marking the 20th anniversary of Germany's reunification. Maas expressed gratitude to all who had supported the unification of Germany. "I believe that, over the past 20 years, we have shown that the confidence invested in us was well invested, that we have shown that we are a good partner," he said. "The fact that 20 years have passed does not mean that problems have been solved. We still have problems. East Germany is still in transition. This process is not finished. Building Europe is a process that will never be completely finished. This is a developing road," Maas said. Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic said that the fall of the Berlin wall, after which Germany was united, was a great day for Germany, but also for Europe and the world. On that day, confrontation and division into blocks ended, Cvetkovic said. "Foundations were created for one world, one life, in which the essence is not to be one against the other, but one with the other," Cvetkovi
