Serbia's readiness to negotiate and submit the resolution on Kosovo to the UN had a positive effect on the EU attitude towards Serbia. For example, it took only four days to establish a large and productive informal group of friends of Serbia in the European Parliament. Deputy PM: EU questionnaire ready However, our progress towards the EU must not be conditioned by the specific terms and results of the Kosovo negotiations, because it would give an unacceptable boost to Pristina and its provocations such as the recent destruction of Serbian Telekom Srbija telecommunications equipment. Europe is aware of that, said Bozidar Djelic, Deputy Prime Minister, in an interview for Belgrade daily Blic. In the eve of EU ministers' decision on the Serbian application for candidacy, Djelic highlighted one important fact - that an agreement had just been reached to constitute a Dutch government. "It will be authorised to decide on our candidacy in the meeting on October 25 in Luxembourg. The reports that EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fuele and Hague Prosecutor Serge Brammertz will present before the Dutch parliamentarians on October 6 will be extremely important, too, " Djelic said. "The message is clear. We have to keep doing everything in our power to complete our cooperation with The Hague Tribunal, and act on suggestions from the previous Brammertz’s report. Our delegation will be in Luxembourg on October 25, we shall be fighting until the last moment, " Djelic said. When asked when Serbia could expect to receive the questionnaire, Djelic responded that it would be submitted to Serbia within three weeks of getting the green light and internal consultations. "In this case, building upon our work on questionnaires from other countries, we would get the enormous job of preparing thousands of high quality responses done in record time," Deputy Prime Minister said. As far as questions on the boundaries or population are concerned, Djelic said that the answers are clear. "According to our Constitution and national politics, Kosovo is an inseparable part of Serbia. Pursuant to the Resolution 1244, our state authorities, such as police or administration, are not currently present in our southern province. " "The tough questions will be the ones regarding the judicial reform, antitrust policies, investments in education and science, relationship between the executive and legislative powers and regulatory bodies," Deputy Prime Minister said.
