The resigning State Secretary in the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights Marko Karadzic said he stepped down because he was isolated and disrespected. "We had a session of the board yesterday to which I was not invited, as they believe they should not to be talking to me any more", Karadzic said, adding that his work phone was cancelled and that the harassment also included people who worked with him, from his secretary to his chauffeur. According to Karadzic, the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights made a report on recent events in the village of Jabuka where attacks on Roma houses occurred, in which he was accused of provoking the anger of citizens with his statements. Karadzic said he would not sue anyone, that he needed to find a new job, that he had an MA in international human rights and would pursue that as a career. He said that Nenad Canak, President of the League of Social Democrats of Vojvodina, the party of which Karadzic is a member, showed his support to his decision to step down from office. "I made a phone call to Nenad Canak, told him about this, he knows very well what the situation was in the ministry, he never forced me to act against common sense and against myself and supported my decision", Karadzic said.
