Ahead of the EU Council of Ministers meeting next month, a high ranking Luxembourg official says there should be "good news for Serbia". The country's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn also said that the Netherlands, the country that is blocking Serbia's accession in the EU, will ease its stand. Luxembourg minister on Serbian bid “It will be an important meeting of the Council of Ministers. I may say that there is a 99 % chance that the topic regarding Serbia will be included in the agenda,” Asselborn said in a statement published by Belgrade daily Vecernje Novosti on Monday. “I believe that even the Netherlands will seriously consider it although their government is a technical one. During the unofficial ministerial meeting in Brussels, we saw that there is a big unity on the issue of forwarding Serbia's application. We are now in a position to conclude this chapter of Serbia's European integrations,” said Asselborn. According to him, this means that we should give the European Commission a chance to analyze Serbia's application for the status of a candidate state in the EU. Asselborn underscored that “there is no one in the EU who would tell Serbia to recognize Kosovo” in order to realize its European path. "But of course it is very important to talk in order to find economic, cultural and other situation that could bring benefits to both peoples," said he.
