Conscious of the situation and of great international pressure, Serbia has adopted a middle of the road policy when it comes to Kosovo. This is according to Minister of Labor and Social Policy Rasim Ljajic, who said this meant avoiding all confrontation with the international community and its most important factors. Minister on "red lines, avoiding confrontation" He told reporters that Serbia is open to discussion of the Kosovo resolution, but that there is a red line it will not cross. “We are open to compromise, but we will not recognize Kosovo's independence directly or indirectly, and this includes the text of the resolution,” said Ljajic, who is also the leader of the Social Democratic Party of Serbia. He said it would be ideal if agreement was reached on the draft resolution, but that he is not sure this is a viable option. "Still, right up to the UN General Assembly session on September 9 there is a chance Serbia's draft resolution could undergo changes," he added. “This is a middle of the road policy that will not jeopardize European integration but represents a political and democratic fight to preserve our integrity,” Ljajic said and added that Serbia is doing what any modern day country would do.
