Belgrade Mufti Muhamed Jusufspahic has called on a counter-rally in response to the one scheduled by a rival Islamic organization. The Islamic Community in Serbia leader Muamer Zukorlic called the original gathering. Belgrade mufti calls for "counter-rally" Jusufspahic said that his Islamic Community of Serbia has scheduled a counter-rally so that its voice can be heard as well. He called on religious teachers and their families to attend the meeting against religious teachers who support Zukorlic. Jusufspahic commended the moves of the Serbian government and its support for the Islamic Community of Serbia, and for including its leader, Adem Zilkic, in the government’s Commission for Religious Studies. Zilkic has also been elected a member of the Inter-Religious Council. Zukorlic’s supporters announced a rally in front of the government building on Tuesday at noon to pretest the appointment of Zilkic to the commission. Zukorlic believes that his Islamic Community in Serbia’s official Mevlud Dudic was removed from the commission after he was elected as the president of the National Bosniak Council, which the Human and Minority Rights Ministry does not recognize.
