President Boris Tadic said that a delegation of the government would be traveling to Brussels to discuss its UN Kosovo resolution with EU officials. Tadic said that the objections to Serbia’s resolution did not come from any EU institutions, but from individual foreign ministries of member-states. President confirms consultations on resolution “Serbia will never recognize Kosovo. That is a red line that we will not cross,” Tadic said, adding that he has informed Western leaders of that stance. “I told Westerwelle, Clinton, Sarkozy and Merkel this, and I will tell all of you,” he said. He said that no foreign politician has every told him that recognizing Kosovo is a condition for Serbia’s entrance into the EU. Tadic also denied allegations that Serbia submitted its Kosovo resolution to the UN without holding any consultations. “We already spoke about the resolution before we sent it to the General Assembly. We did not get any objections from the EU, but we did get some from the foreign ministries of individual countries,” Tadic said. He said that the so-called “Quinta” of five EU-member states and the U.S. had objections to the resolution, while Russia, Brazil, China, India and the five EU member-states that have not recognize Kosovo did not have any objections. He said that the stance of the Quinta cannot be ignored, but that Serbia will not back down from Kosovo or the European Union. “We believe that our resolution is full of compromises. I believe that no one can be against negotiations,” Tadic said, adding that negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina would be a chance to solve the historical conflict between the Albanian and Serbian people. He said that Serbia would continue fighting for Kosovo, even though its legal angles have been depleted after the decision of the International Court of Justice. “The fight for Kosovo would be continued on a peaceful and diplomatic road,” Tadic said.
