A member of a Belgrade-based think-tank says Serbia’s could become an EU candidate if writes its Kosovo resolution with Brussels. International and Security Affairs Center (ISAC) official Milan Pajevic spoke about the resolution on Kosovo that Belgrade will send to the UN General Assembly in September. "EU wants to work on resolution" He said that Serbia can choose between cooperation or working independently. “It has to do with the content of the resolution. The EU does not want the resolution to mention Kosovo’s status, while Serbia insists on mentioning it,” Pajevic said. Different messages have arrived from the EU recently with countries like Italy and Slovenia stating that Brussels talked about increasing the speed of Serbia EU integration, while Security and Foreign Policies Chief Catherine Ashton said that this was not discussed. Pajevic said that there was no official discussion of this issue. “Serbia and Kosovo were discussed during a lunch. It is very important to understand that the EU is in the mood to give candidate status, but under the condition that Serbia accepts the offer to work on writing the resolution together,” Pajevic said. He said that the EU does not want to talk about any negotiations regarding Kosovo’s status. “The EU wants Serbia and Pristina to negotiate, but on the so-called technical and everyday questions, such as electricity supplies, the work of the courts and police, etcetera,” said Pajevic.
