Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic said that the government has been able to alleviate the effects of the economic crisis through its active measures. He said that the gross domestic product (GDP) was increasing along with positive trends seen in exports and industrial production, but that the unemployment rate was increasing. PM: Govt. alleviated effects of crisis The prime minister also stated that positive economic trends could be seen in 2010 in Serbia. “We had a decrease in the GDP of some 2.8 percent, which is significantly less than in most countries in Europe and the region. In early 2010, there are positive tendencies being seen, and we have seen growth in the first quarter. This data differs depending on evaluations, but the growth is nearing one percent. As a negative trend, we have an increase in unemployment, but that is happening in other countries as well,” Cvetkovic said.
