Police have taken Serbia's postal service, PTT, Deputy Director Milos Miscevic into custody on Sunday, in connection to a recent election scandal. Miscevic is also a senior official of the ruling Democratic Party (DS). He is suspected of organizing the distribution of false payment slips with opposition Serb Progressive Party (SNS) logos ahead of the recent elections in the eastern town of Bor. Postal service manager arrested The fake letters asked citizens to contribute money to SNS. Three persons from Bor, Suzana Stojanovic, Nemanja Nikolic and Dragan Terzic, were also taken into custody and are suspected of being involved in the scandal. SNS deputy leader Aleksandar Vucic stated last week that he would begin a hunger strike on Monday if the state institutions do not name the suspects in the case. He has today announced that he would not embark on the strike. Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said that he would "figuratively join Vucic’s hunger strike if no names were named", because he was also interested in uncovering who was behind the scandal. Dacic confirmed for B92 that three people who were suspected of distributing the payment slips have been arrested. The payment slips that were distributed on June 19 in Bor asked for citizens to pay RSD 1,860 to SNS "to help pay for the expenses of campaigning" for the local elections that were held on June 20.
