Hungarian Foreign Minister Janos Martonyi is vising Serbia for meetings with the country's top officials. On Thursday, Martonyi said that his country wants the ratification of Serbia's Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) with the EU to start and its EU candidacy bid to come before the European Commission as soon as possible. Hungarian FM meets with top officials At a joint news conference with Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic in Belgradfe, Martonyi said that it was very important that all Western Balkan countries continue the process of EU accession. “Hungary is in the EU and it is our duty to help other countries in the region on that path, said Martonyi,” who is on his first official visit abroad since he took office on May 29. He also said he will sign a memorandum on Hungary's administrative assistance to the Serbian government in EU integration later on Thursday. Jeremic said that Hungary will take over the EU presidency next year and that it is very important that Budapest strongly supports Serbia's EU integration efforts. "Hungary will express the same view in Luxembourg on Monday, at the meeting of EU foreign ministers," Jeremic added. He also said that the relations between Serbia and Hungary are based on partnership and a close alliance, assessing that the two countries have good economic and cultural relations and that they will continue to cooperate closely in all areas. On Friday, Janos Martonyi will end his two-day visit to Serbia by meeting with Serbian President Boris Tadic, Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic and Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic. At a joint news conference with Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić in Belgradfe, Martonyi said that it was very important that all Western Balkan countries continue the process of EU accession.

“Hungary is in the EU and it is our duty to help other countries in the region on that path, said Martonyi,” who is on his first official visit abroad since he took office on May 29.

He also said he will sign a memorandum on Hungary's administrative assistance to the Serbian government in EU integration later on Thursday.

Jeremić said that Hungary will take over the EU presidency next year and that it is very important that Budapest strongly supports Serbia's EU integration efforts.
