Visas for Serbian citizens who travel to the U.S. as tourists or on a business trip will, beginning May 20, be extended from three to ten years. This is according to U.S. Ambassador in Belgrade Mary Warlick, who spoke on Thursday. U.S. embassy to issue 10-year visas That is the maximum period for which citizens of any country can receive U.S. visas, and it means that visitors who go to the U.S. on a tourist or business trip need to visit the embassy only once every ten years to renew the visa's validity. "This decision is a turning point in U.S.-Serbia relations, and a symbol of our increasingly deep friendship. I hope that the introduction of multiple-entry visas, valid for 10 years, will help enhance business between Serbian and U.S. companies, and that more Serbian tourists will include the U.S. in their travel itineraries," Warlick told journalists in the U.S. embassy in Belgrade. She added that this decision by the U.S. administration is "tangible evidence of the U.S.'s faith that its relations with Serbia will continue in the future, and that they will be fruitful." Consular Chief of the U.S. embassy in Belgrade Peter Marigliano specified that only categories B1 and B2 (for short tourist and business visits) will receive visas for 10 years' time, while the duration of all other visas will remain unchanged. He added that student visas, visas for ship crews, journalists, and others, will still be issued for a period of three years. All necessary application forms for the visa, which will continue to cost USD 131, can be filled out at the embassy website, Marigliano stated, adding that the criteria for issuing a visa for ten years will remain the same as in the case of visas issued for three years' time. In addition, Serbian citizens who already have a U.S. visa in their passport can continue using them until they expire.
