Opposition SNS leader Tomislav Nikolic says his party will organize a rally before summer holidays. This will enable the citizens to “say what they think of the current authorities in Serbia”, he stated in Belgrade on Wednesday. Opposition leader announces “mass rally” “This will not be a rally to topple the authorities but to tell them what the citizens think about them,” Nikolic said in a interview to Tanjug. Nikolic wondered why the ruling Democratic Party (DS) was not concerned by the fact that 1.2 million citizens supported early elections with their signatures. DS cannot get that many votes in elections, and will endeavor to maintain the present authorities in power at any cost, Nikolic said. “When the parliamentary elections are scheduled, SNS will ask other parties to clearly state with which parties they would form post-election coalitions,” he said. “Political parties in the country are merging,” he said, adding that Serbia will become a democratic country “with two strong parties which will succeed each other in power”. He described the cooperation with opposition Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) and New Serbia (NS) as “natural”, adding that cooperation between SNS and NS intensified at NS initiative, while DSS was “still going through internal turmoil”. Nikolic said he would like to cooperate with DS on some issues such as Kosovo and Metohija, adding that “cooperation in forming a government is at this time unthinkable, impossible and unnecessary”.
