Opposition SNS leader Tomislav Nikolic says President Boris Tadic should state whether he is “head of the state or president of the Democratic Party”. Nikolic spoke in Belgrade on Monday in reaction to Tadic's statements, saying they showed his wish to aggravate political relations in the country. Tadic accused of "aggravating" political scene “I once again ask him (Tadic) kindly to turn to the Constitution and his constitutional competencies. The president of Serbia should not worry about who would win the parliament majority, but should instead make sure that majority forms the government,” Nikolic told reporters in parliament. Tadic, who is Serbia's president and leader of the ruling DS, commented on the messages sent from the SNS assembly held two days ago, by saying that there was “no energy he was not prepared to invest in Serbia in order to prevent the opposition from coming to power”. Asked whether this was steering Serbia towards worsening of the political situation, Nikolic said that “this was certainly Tadic's wish”. The SNS leader said that his party would remain tolerant and reasonable to the extent to which authorities would not endanger them physically, or their human and political rights, and that they would “then respond to the president of Serbia”.
