Prime ministers of Serbia and Bulgaria, Mirko Cvetkovic and Boyko Borisov met in Belgrade this Monday. They agreed that the fight against organized crime is currently one of the most important tasks of the region countries, evaluating that an agreement on founding and functioning of a joint contact center for cooperation of police and customs would contribute to those efforts. Bulgarian premier visits Belgrade "The document that was signed today should provide us with additional instruments for something that is of utmost importance for the region as a whole," and that is the fight against organized crime, Cvetkovic said at a joint press conference he held with Borisov after the agreement was signed by Bulgarian Interior Minister Cvetan Cvetanov and his Serbian counterpart Ivica Dacic. Borisov said that the agreement provides for cooperation of the competent services of the two countries and an "exchange of information in real time" aimed at fighting trafficking of drugs, tobacco, humans and organized crime in general. The two prime ministers also discussed Serbia's European integrations, improvement of trade and investments, communications and energy supply. Cvetkovic said that several projects, such as construction of a hydroelectric power plant on the Danube River, the gas pipeline that would connect the two countries and Serbia's possible participation in the construction of a nuclear power plant in Bulgaria were also discussed. The two prime ministers also discussed the status of the Bulgarian ethnic minority in Serbia, which Cvetkovic said should "feel equal with other citizens, just like all other minorities”. Borisov said that “the problem” would “automatically be solved with Serbia's accession in the European Union”. Borisov and Cvetkovic in Belgrade today (Tanjug)
