Serbian President Boris Tadic attended the commemoration of the crimes committed in Donja Gradina, Bosnia-Herzegovina during World War II. Republic of Srpska (RS) Prime Minister Milorad Dodik said that RS is a guarantee that such crimes against Serbs would never be committed again, and called on the Bosnia-Herzegovina federation to admit that genocide was committed in Jasenovac. Tadic attends commemoration in Bosnia “RS cannot be questioned. For us it is holy and will be defended as such, but it is a safe home not only for Serbs, but all people who want to live in it,” Dodik said at the commemoration for victims of the Jasenovac concentration camp killed by Ustasha forces in Donja Gradina. Dodik said that RS was created as a sign of the will of the Serb people and as an institution for their protection. Bosnia-Herzegovina Presidency official Nebojsa Radmanovic said that the Serb people survived many tragedies in the past, but that today they are turned towards the future and insisting on the values of humanism which modern Europe abides by. “Regardless of the degree of suffering, no nation that nurtured the culture of remembering has every disappeared off the face of the earth,” he said. “We are asking for the truth, not revenge,” Radmanovic said, adding that Donja Gradina is a place of national suffering for Serbs, but also a place for raising morals. Dodik and Radmanovic said that all crimes that were committed during the last war in Bosnia must be individualize and none of the three constitutive communities in Bosnia-Herzegovina can be allowed to hide those who committed crimes against others. RS President Rajko Kuzmanovic, Serbian Education Minister Zarko Obradovic, Chief Rabbi of the Jewish community of Serbia Isak Asiel, and officials of the association of Jasenovac and Donja Gradina survivors were also in attendance. There are nine gravesites with 105 mass graves located on 156 hectares in Donja Gradina. (Tanjug)
