The decision of the Vojvodina assembly that lets its members hold two state offices "does not obligate the Anti-Corruption Agency". “The agency would be obligated if the provincial assembly made a decisions that would be treated as other decrees, in the sense of Article 28 of the Law on Anti-Corruption Agency, which would obligate officials to hold more than one position,” agency member Slobodan Beljanski said. “Conflict of interest decision doesn’t obligate agency” Beljanski stated that his stance is that the provincial assembly passed a decision that determines questions related to conflicts of interest, and that this decision did not "obligate officials to hold another position imperatively – as required by law". “If such an act was passed, it would obligate the agency and such an official could continue to work in another position along with his or her basic one,” he said. “Their decision is of a dispositive character, because it states that serving assembly members can hold other functions until the end of their mandates, which is not enough to obligate the agency,” Beljanski was quoted as saying. The Vojvodina assembly passed a decision on Tuesday regarding conflict of interest issues, to allow some members of the assembly to continue holding multiple public offices. Other than the comment from Beljanski, the Anti-Corruption Agency is yet to review this decision.
