Oppostion New Serbia (NS) Leader Velimir Ilic says that no political cooperation with Vojislav Seselj is possible if he returned to Serbia soon. Ilic said in Belgrade today that he “cannot overcome what has happened with the Serb Radical Party (SRS)”, referring to the departure of Tomislav Nikolic, Aleksandar Vucic and a large number of members, who formed the Serb Progressive Party (SNS). NS leader: No cooperation with Seselj “He would like that only his wishes be respected, that he is the only one to be listened to when it comes to the policy that should be led,” Ilic. “I doubt that Seselj could forget the way SRS broke up and engage for the sake of a more general interest, which includes cooperation with the Progressives. He’s egocentric and cannot cooperate with anybody. Such policy destroyed Serbia in the 1990s and that is why we need to watch ourselves so something similar does not happen again,” the NS leader stated. When asked whether cooperation between opposition DSS leader Vojislav Kostunica and Seselj was possible, he replied negatively. “Knowing Kostunica, I can say with certainty that he is in favor of democratic, true changes in our society, something I could never say for Seselj. Kostunica wants cooperation, he is a tolerant leader, and I do not believe that he would ever find a political ally in Seselj,” Ilic concluded.
