The Serbian Constitutional Issues Committee did not choose the candidate for equality protection trustee at the Friday session. Candidate of the Democratic Party Milutin Djuricic has withdrawn his candidacy, whereas the two remaining candidates, Goran Miletic (the Liberal Democratic Party) and Gordana Cusic (independent candidate) did not get the support of the Committee members. Committee has no candidate for trustee The Anti-Discrimination Law characterizes a trustee for equality protection as an autonomous state body, independent in performing duties in accordance with law. The trustee is authorized to indicate the prohibited forms of behavior and hand down preventive warnings. The Serbian assembly passed the Anti-Discrimination Law in March 2009, which prohibits any discrimination, especially based on race, gender, nationality, social background, birth, religion and medical condition.

The Anti-Discrimination Law characterizes a trustee for equality protection as an autonomous state body, independent in performing duties in accordance with law.
