DS coalition wins in town's early vote

The Democratic Party (DS) won easily in the local elections in Odžaci, with a record 73 percent of the local population participating in the vote.

The Democratic Party (DS) won easily in the local elections in Odzaci, with a record 73 percent of the local population participating in the vote. The municipal election commission has counted 10 percent of the ballots from the 27 polling station in the emergency elections and released the first initial results. DS coalition wins in town's early vote DS and its coalition partners are leading by a large margin, according to Commission President Milorad Zrinic. He said that the “For a European Odzaci – Boris Tadic” coalition has a significant lead ahead of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS). The DS-led coalition has taken 34.6 percent of the vote, while SNS took 22.05, followed by the SPS-JS-PUPS coalition with 10.9 percent, SRS with 9.93 percent, DSS with 9.3 percent and G17 plus with 6.09 percent, according to initial statistics. The win would give DS ten seats in the local assembly. DS Vice-President and President of the Vojvodina government Bojan Pajtic said that the victory in Odzaci is a historic one. “This is a historic win, because DS has never before achieved its desired level of success in Odzaci,” he said.
