Former Serbian Army (VS) CoGS Gen. (retired) Zdravko Ponos will be offered the job of assistant for bilateral cooperation to the foreign minister. This is according to Belgrade daily Blic, which writes that FM VUk Jeremic will submit this proposal to the government as it meets on Thursday. Ex-Army chief set to join Jeremic team If the government approves it, Ponos will be back in the state service once the decision has been published in the Official Gazette, says the newspaper. Meanwhile at the MFA, the article continues, “procedures are under way for Ponos’s arrival”. The position of the bilateral cooperation assistant has been empty for a while, “to all intents and purposes reserved for Ponos”, says Blic. Ponos was sacked as Army chief in late 2008 over disagreements with Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac, and was officially retired from service in December 2009.
