Serbia has managed to come within reach of unfreezing of the Interim Trade Agreement, Belgrade daily Blic writes. The trade deal is a part of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA), which the Netherlands has been blocking demanding Serbia's full cooperation with the Hague Tribunal. Dutch to unfreeze interim agreement? Serbia has been unilaterally implementing the interim agreement since the beginning of this year. Now the newspaper writes that the "most positive report yet" from the Hague Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz "fell on fertile soil", and that the "unblocking of the SAA" and the beginning of its ratification will present a chance for Serbia to submit its EU candidacy application by the end of the year. The daily reported all this citing "a high-placed government source". Serbian officials are unofficially saying that the Dutch Foreign Minister Maxime Verhagen’s announced visit to Belgrade represents "more reason for optimism", and expect "the SAA to be unfrozen", and by a "unanimous decision of the EU presidents or prime ministers at the EU summit on December 10".
