A regional ministerial conference on climate change was opened Wednesday in Belgrade. The goal of the conference is to establish stronger ties between the environment policies and the energy industry sector. Regional conference on climate change Ministers of Energy and Environment Protection Petar Skundric and Oliver Dulic said at the opening session that Serbia is ready to take up its commitments based on European guidelines. This is part of Serbia's strategic commitment to integration in the European Union, they said, expressing hope that the EU will provide financial and technological assistance to Serbia to that end. Skundric expressed his conviction that the next year will be the most creative as regards sustainable development of Serbia's energy sector. Dulic said that a set of regulations will be adopted soon to encourage people to insulate their homes, as energy saving is an important part of environment protection measures.
