Serbia’s indebtedness "morally justified"

President Boris Tadic said that Serbia is taking out international loans to develop the country, not to pay wages and pensions. He called this “moral indebtedness.” Serbia’s indebtedness "morally justified" “Of course this debt is dangerous if we don’t plan on how to return it, and unless we think up new loans so that they serve the generations to come,” Tadic said in Leskovac, in southern Serbia, on Monday. He added that administrative reform is necessary in every city and municipality in order for Serbia to integrate into Europe. “One habit used to be find a job that was always believed to be the most secure – 'I’ll work for the municipality, I’m safe there'. Such jobs in the state services, in a Serbia that wants to develop, that wants to be a safe country for its citizens, cannot be secure for people that have them, because municipal and state jobs must work towards development and not in the interest of a small group of people enjoying privileges,” said Tadic.
