Interior Minister Ivica Dacic protested at a forum in Brussels because the Kosovo Albanian delegation did not have UNMIK on the signboard in front of its table. The Ministerial Conference on Legislature and Internal Affairs of the EU and Western Balkans was delayed because of the protest. Dacic protests over Kosovo at conference After Dacic’s protest, all signboards were removed, after which the conference began, the minister, who is also Serbia's first deputy prime minister, said. "We have confronted this, having in mind that Kosovo representatives can only take part in the forum either together with UNMIK or under a clear sign that they are under the Resolution 1244, which they did eventually," Dacic told Tanjug. He added that, "as always, there is an attempt to prejudice the status of representatives of the so-called interim institutions in Kosovo, before the status of Kosovo has been defined and resolved". Swedish Justice Minister Beatrice Ask opened the conference, stating that “the European Union’s priority is the integration and visa liberalization process of the Western Balkans,” as well as he fight against human trafficking. European Commission Vice President Jacques Barrot was also at the conference. He said that the “process of stabilization and association is a key element for the integration of the Western Balkans countries,” and that Serbia “has made significant progress in the fight against corruption.” He also showed support for Serbia’s adoption of the national strategy for the fight against crime. As far as visa liberalization is concerned, “great progress has been made,” Barrot said, calling it a great success for the countries of the Western Balkans. He also congratulated Serbia, Macedonia and Montenegro “on the job they did.” The conference included discussion of the stabilization and association process, visa liberalization, the fight against corruption, human trafficking and weapons trafficking, as well as an analysis of organized crime threats in Southeast Europe.

After Dačić’s protest, all signboards were removed, after which the conference began, the minister, who is also Serbia's first deputy prime minister, said.
